Why I Joined the Pride
My story as a Lions fan is a rather obscure one. It all began when I was 9 years old, during the infamous 2008 Detroit Lions season. I don’t need to explain to you, the reader, the significance of this year (In fact, please don’t make me relive it.) Anyways, I was at a friends house and their dad was a die-hard Washington fan. Even as a child I liked to wittily partake in banter with him as well as other Washington fans. They sucked. But this particular weekend, they were playing a team who sucked even more: The Detroit Lions. I told my friend’s dad that Washington had “no chance” against the Lions. He then laughed and hysterically said “The Lions suck!” I couldn’t wrap my head around it, and as a natural contrarian I committed myself to root for the Lions as they played Washington the following day.
